CAN-PACK speeds up plate processing by up to 60%
Photopolymer plate processing - Can Pack Group is one of the world's largest metal packaging manufacturers. More than 4,000 people work at all of the Group's plants, and annual sales exceed $1.4 billion. The production level is more than 11 billion beverage cans, more than 30 billion bottle closures, more than 1 billion metal packaging for the food and chemical industries, and about nearly 220,000 tons of glass packaging.
Print Systems has been one of the key suppliers of letterpress plates to CanPack.SA since 2001.

Optimize plate processing - meeting the challenge
The company was looking for a reliable supplier of platern technology for processing letterpress plates for a plant in Bydgoszcz. The idea was to replace the operating equipment/processor with a more innovative, platern one that meets the requirements in terms of plate processing quality, productivity and efficiency. At all Can Pack Group factories, in accordance with the group's internal boothards, the impact of production on the environment is also monitored. Therefore, the choice of technology is also analyzed in terms of reduced consumption of utilities, production materials and reduction of air emissions, noise, water consumption, energy consumption and reduction of wastewater levels into the sewage system. The company prides itself on installing equipment of the highest global technical level, thanks to which it achieves the highest level of packaging production technology. The procedures for selecting a technology supplier are very strict and the process is very complex and multi-stage.
Solution
Print Systems experts performed an in-depth analysis/diagnosis of the current situation. The plate processing was thoroughly verified. A specification of our customer's requirements and expectations was drawn up. The first discussions on designing and building a processor for processing photopolymer plates according to individual preferences took place during the Labelexpo fair in Belgium in 2015. The possibilities of integrating existing solutions were also verified in order to maximize the technological potential prepared and ensure an optimal, dedicated implementation based on the latest technologies used in the packaging printing process.
