CtP laser for special tasks
KiMM is a manufacturer of tools for print enhancement by hot stamping and various types of embossing. The main core of the business is engraved brass printing plates and photopolymer embossers. The offer is supplemented by sets for embossing Braille characters and polymers for dry offset or letterpress printing. The company's products are mainly used for the manufacture of premium packaging in the cosmetics, food, alcohol and pharmaceutical industries, etc.
KiMM was founded in 2005 and has undergone several upgrades to its machinery over the years, with the final investment in a CtP laser in 2019. With the company's growth and relocation, it became cumbersome, very time-consuming and costly to continue using external exposure facilities.
The decision to switch to CtP technology was driven by a search for solutions that would make our company independent of external suppliers and allow us to fully control the production process of our polymer matrices. In response to market needs, we wanted to maximize the turnaround time of our orders while, at the same time, losing nothing and even achieving better product quality. The possibility of eliminating the costs associated with receiving analog film was also not insignificant. When selecting the equipment, we were also guided by the issues of reducing the impact of the exposure process on the environment and providing a safe workplace for the operator. The offer presented by Print Systems met our expectations. The price/quality ratio of the device and previous experience in cooperation ultimately determined the choice of the device and supplier.

Needs analysis
After a thorough analysis of needs, Print Systems proposed the Laser Amsky Aura 600S, which allows for very high precision engraving thanks to its 4000 dpi resolution. The device has a 32-channel light source. The process is carried out through a rotating drum, and the plate is buckled with stabilization under pressure. In addition, the offer included full support for planning the optimal room for the device, along with guidelines for remodeling. The customer's expectation was to provide fast-response service and, importantly, on-site service at the company's headquarters. The machine is covered by warranty and post-warranty service, and a technical advisor, in accordance with the service standard at Print Systems, is at the customer's disposal at all times.
Quick results
The results of the investment in the Aura AMSKY CtP laser did not have to wait long. After several months of operating on the basis of an in-house CtP device, KiMM managed to reduce plate preparation time by about 40%. Production costs were reduced by the cost of external services and transportation. High quality is now achievable and repeatable and fully controlled by the owner. It is possible to eliminate even minor errors in a timely manner without increasing turnaround time. The introduction of CtP technology has resulted in an increase in the number of customers, as the company can handle the most demanding projects.
