Our customer stories
How hasECO Cleaner QUICKER ECO Cleaner made a differenceECO Cleaner the Italian printing company Poplast?
In the flexographic printing industry, there are processes that virtually no one gives a second thought to. Plate washing is one of them. If the cleaning solution effectively removes the ink, the operators are familiar with its properties, and production runs smoothly, the issue simply falls off the list of priorities. This was also the case at the Italian printing company Poplast.

No one there was planning a revolution either. The team simply wanted to see if a classic solvent-based cleaner could be replaced with a solution that would deliver the same cleaning quality—without compromises and without compromising the results. The test was designed to answer a very practical question: whether QUICKER ECO Cleaner cleans just as effectively.
Therefore, this was not a laboratory demonstration or a trial lasting just a few days. The new product entered regular production. Over the following weeks, more than 1,500 wash cycles were performed under exactly the same conditions in which operators work every day. If any differences were to arise, that was when they should have become apparent.
And they did indeed show up. Interestingly, not where everyone was looking for them.
In terms of effectiveness, the new cleaning solution met expectations. The panels were cleaned just as well as before, so the primary goal of the test was achieved. However, after some time, the operators began to notice something completely different. The atmosphere in the facility became… simply more pleasant. The characteristic, intense smell of solvents—which for years had been so obvious that virtually no one noticed it anymore—disappeared. It wasn’t until it was gone that it became clear just how much it had affected the daily comfort of the work environment.
That was the moment when the conversation shifted beyond just cleaning effectiveness. Questions began to arise more and more frequently about the cost of adapting to solutions we’ve long considered standard. After all, when choosing cleaning products, we usually compare price, yield, and effectiveness. We rarely consider the costs that are difficult to quantify in a spreadsheet—additional health and safety procedures, ventilation requirements, the storage of hazardous substances, waste disposal, or simply the day-to-day comfort of the people working with the machines.

At Poplast, no one had planned to change their work philosophy. They simply wanted to test a single product. Ultimately, however, it turned out that changing a single element of the process had an impact on much more than just the cleaning of the panels. Not because the new cleaner worked better, but because it allowed them to view the entire process from a different perspective.
After more than 1,500 cycles, no one was asking anymore whether the solvent-free solution was effective enough. A different, much more interesting question arose: Is it really worth continuing to use solutions in 2026 that—while effective—also worsen working conditions, when there are alternatives that achieve the same result?
This question seems much more important today than comparing specifications in technical data sheets. Because a modern printing plant is not just about print quality and production efficiency. It’s also about the environment in which people want to work every day.
